“The Engineering Department should improve on the quality of the District roads,” District Chairperson.

Mr.Pajje Emmanuel, the District Chairperson Budaka has called upon the Engineering department to improve on the quality of their work on the district roads.The call was made this afternoon during the District Roads Committee meeting held in the district board room today.The District Chairperson who doubles as the Chairperson District Roads Committee also urged the department to ensure sustainability of the roads.He further encouraged the Engineering team to concentrate on a specific road and not venture in many in order to avoid issues of incomplete works due to limited resources.He also urged them to always have a design in place before they embark on any road especially the swampy areas. He warned communities against growing rice along the road reserve.While in the field inspection of Nabulezi-Sapiri –Chali road in Budaka Subcounty, the team resolved that the District Engineer widens the water channel away from the road.They also tasked the District Engineer to get quarry dust and mix with pit sand for construction.They further advised him to always schedule the District Roads Committee meetings at the beginning of the Financial Year not at the end for decision making.Hon.Mboizi Arthur ,the Member of Parliament for Budaka constituency ,advised the District Engineer to put in place a road way design for road safety purposes along the construction sites.He further explained to members that need for CAO’s office to always share vast communication from the centre with stakeholders in such meetings.Hon.Kasolo Robert,the Member of Parliament for Iki-Iki Constituency also advised the District Chairperson to take on one role of being the Secretary of Works and Technical services, and another person becomes the Chairperson Road Fund  for the smooth running of activities and as well reduce complaints as per the circular from the Prime Minister’s office.According to the District Engineer,he informed memers about the short fall in the URF budget from Ugx 577,740,250 to Ugx 314,959,560 in the next FY2023/24 among others.
