Contractor fails commissioning of a classroom block

The long awaited commissioning of a 02 classroom block today at St.Kalori Kodiri P/S was in vain because the contractor did not appear to handover the site.This was witnessed by the community of Kachomo who had come to receive the classroom block for their children to use.According to the Resident District Commissioner, Mr.Magunda George, he expressed his disappointment with the contractor for both failing to turn up and even not delegating anyone for the commissioning hence wasting their time.He further warned the procurement unit against giving contracts to such people.He then urged the technical wing to always scrutinize the individuals they award contracts inorder to avoid such embarrassments in future.The worker’s who had come to witness the event, informed the concerned authorities that the contractor hadnot paid all their wages for the labour they supplied.The Senior Labour Officer, Mr.Koire Paul then promised the complainants that their issue will be resolved before retention is paid to the contractor.The Deputy Chief Administrative Officer, Ms.Akiror Jane reaffirmed the contractual obligation that requires the contractor to handover the site before commissioning something that had not taken place.
