Farmers to adopt the new farming technologies.

Farmers of Budaka District have promised to embrace the new agricultural technologies as they implement the micro-scale irrigation project.This follows the exchange visit to Tororo District where both the political and technical staffs were involved today.The visiting team from Budaka met two farmers in the names of Mr. Onapa Erukana and Mr. Olunuo Paul, some of the beneficiaries of the micro scale irrigation equipment and technology.Both farmers are engaged in horticulture mainly dodo, vegetables and also venturing in aquaculture.They advised the visiting farmers to improve on their soil system through use of manure and mulching so that the rain becomes a supplement.The farmers also testified that they invested about UGX 300,000 for the vegetable project and have been able to earn between UGX1.5M and 2M per week henceforth improving on their livelihoods.The Budaka farmers promised to embrace the different farming technologies for better yields.Tororo District is one of the pilot Districts under the micro-scale irrigation project.
