A team from the Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) training both the District and Subcounty Disaster Management Committee members in the District Council Chambers.According to the Assistant Commissioner, Ms. Rose Nakabugwo, she informed members that the main goal of the training is to establish institutions and mechanisms that will reduce the vulnerability of people, livestock, plants and wildlife to disasters in Uganda.She also added that the objectives of the training is to establish Disaster Preparedness and Management institutions at national and local levels, to equip Disaster Preparedness and Management institutions and ensure that the country is prepared at all times to cope with and manage disasters, to generate and disseminate information on early warning for disasters and hazard trend analysis among others.
