RDC Budaka calls for quality work from contractors

 Mr. Ogwang Steven, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner Budaka, has called upon all the contractors to do quality work that meets a taste of time. The call was made on Friday 20th February 2026 during the signing of contracts and handing over of sites to the contractors as they commence their work. The meeting attracted several different stakeholders comprising of the CAO,    DISO,DEO,Senior Procurement Officer, Acting District Engineer, DHO and contractors. The Deputy RDC noted that contractors have a tendency of saving and at the end do shoddy work that has sometimes resulted in structures being broken down during supervision, some having cracks even before commissioning and others collapsing within a short period of time.“We expect a lot from you contractors and  as such, you need to do good work that will sell your company even to other places, when you fail to achieve our expectations ,you will loose out in our contracts next time since we would have known the kind of work you do,” RDC said.He also encouraged them to do the work as per what is stipulated in the Bills of Quantities. He reminded them of their cardinal role to supervise, monitor and give guidance to see that work goes on well. Mr. Ogwang tasked the contractors to ensure that they accomplish all their work within the contract period since they are behind schedule. He further advised them to cooperate with all stakeholders for the successful implementation of the projects.He warned the stakeholders against spoiling the image of government with what they do. He implored the contractors to be faithful as they do their work to avoid being at loggerheads with the project managers and the Engineers. He then appreciated government for the support rendered to Budaka across all the service areas.Mr. Egesa Anthony, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Budaka, urged the contractors to use local people from within Budaka as labor while on site executing their work alongside their other workers.He also encouraged the communities to own up the projects and ensure they keep an eye on what the contractors are doing.“Do not attack the contractors as they do their work but rather report to the project managers who are technical enough to guide the contractors in case of any issues,” DCAO added. He appreciated Government of Uganda for bring services closer to the people evident by school and health facilities that are being constructed in the district. The District Education Officer, Mr. Waako Richard, who represented the Chairperson Contracts Committee during the contract signing meeting, congratulated the contractors upon being successful during the procurement process. He asked the contractors to move fast since they are behind scheduled yet expected to accomplish work by 30th May 2026.  He thanked both the procurement unit and Contracts Committee for the work done. He further appreciated the contractors for being ready to work with the district.He called upon the contractors to be cooperative since they will be working with the project managers and supervisors who will provide technical guidance to them.“Ensure that whatever you are doing is in line with the Bills of Quantities to avoid errors, “The Chairperson Contracts Committee said. He tasked them to work expeditiously as soon as the sites are handed over to them to beat the set deadline.He highlighted some of the sites to be handed over under the Education Department that Included construction of 05 stance lined  pitlatrine at Namusita Primary School at  Ugx25,324,541,renovation of 02classroom block at Katira Primary School at Ugx37,830,387/=,construction of 05 stance lined pit latrine at Sekulo Primary School at Ugx25,198,782/=,construction of 05 stance pit latrine at Gadumire Primary School at Ugx25,440,883/= , renovation of 02 classroom block at Naboa Primary School at Ugx37,995,917/=.He added that the construction of council chambers phase VII at Budaka District FY2025/2026 at Ugx414,599,136/= which is the biggest project in the district. The District Health Officer,Mr.Mulwani Erisa  also made mention of the projects under health that are to handed over which comprised of construction of a ward at Budaka Health Centre IV Phase III, ward at HCIV(Ugx 368,569,667/=,construction of Incinerators at Sapiri Health Centre III, Kaderuna Health Centre III, Iki-Iki Health Centre III, Budaka Health Centre IV and installation of a gate at Mugiti Health Centre II(Ugx39,920,000/=),Remodeling of OPD at Katira Health Centre III at Ugx39,756,103/=,renovation of a staff house at Namusita Health Centre III at Ugx 34,953,429/=  Mr. Dida Sam, the Acting District Engineer, called for teamwork and quality work from all the different contractors as per the BOQ.He further urged the contractors to expedite their work within the stipulated contract period.
