The Permanent Secreatry Ministry of Gender,Labour and Social Development (MGLSD) Mr.Aggrey  Kibenge, has urged all responsible stakeholders to redefine their relationship with the cultural,religious leaders and civil authorities among others inorder to attach equal value to humanity both men,women ,boys and girls respectively.The call was made this afternoon during the National launch of the 16 days of activism against Gender Based Violence(GBV) held at Budaka Saza grounds.While making his speech on behalf of the Minister of Gender,Labour and Social Develop who was to preside over the function,Mr.Kibenge also tasked the participants to address the historical distortion that makes them look at girls as different from boys and women different from men.He added that the kings(His Royal Highness the King of Bugwere and the Omukuka of Bugisu kingdom) should be torches to this calling so as to accelerate the development of the people of Bugwere and the country at large.He added that the  celebration is under the theme:Orange the World;Fund,Respond,Prevent ,Collect to End violence against  Women which focuses on collecting quality data on all cases of GBV and talking measures to prevent them from happening.Speaking to the congrats,Faridah Kibwowa the National Chairperson of Women Council Uganda, appreciated the men for being on board since they have been speaking to women"When you help a woman ,don't demand anything in return but instead help her,Kibwowa added".According to Ms.Olivia Musisi,the Representative of Bugwere   Royal Kingdom to the UN and Europe,she urged men to look at women as business managers with a project to work on.She also asked the Non Governmental Organisations to advocate for the people of Budaka for development evidenced by the escalating teenage pregnancies,early marriages brought by poverty.While making her speech,Her Royal Highness the Queen of Bugwere told the congregation that the woman have no voice when it comes to policy making thus lagging them behind.She informed the public that the Itulula council is trying to equip women with survival skills so as to sustain a living and curb domestic Violence in the Bugwere. According to the Planning department of Budaka ,the district has  atotal population of 250,800 people,with122,800 males and 128,000 females. A total of 41,686 households with a GDP of 124 dollars.According to the statistics from the District Health Department, a total of 1,975 teenage pregnancies  were registered between the month of March and September 2020 in various facilities.Of the total teenage pregnancies registered 1,485 were  reported to have delivered,490 left in fate ,243 teenages contracted the Sexually Transmitted Diseases ,641 treated against GBV and 83 cases reported with mental health conditions.
