A total of 173,120 nets are being delivered to various LLG’s awaiting final distribution to the beneficiaries.According to the NMS Clerk,he informed members that 10 tracks delivered 4,328 bales of nets last night to the district headquarters each with 40 nets.He added that the nets will be received by the parish chiefs and witnessed by the VHT’s pending distribution to the communities.ADHO/Maternal Ms.Wanyenze Hellen, who represented the DHO during the receipt of nets informed members that government is implementing the fourth long-lasting net distribution aimed at reducing the malaria burden across the country.She also said that MOH will be on ground anytime to make micro plans with districts for guidance in terms of delivery to the beneficiaries.Mr.Magunda George the Resident District Commissioner then appreciated government for the support rendered to the district and the country at large in the fight against malaria.He further cautioned communities against fighting government programs like IRS which is one of the strategies in the fight against malaria in addition to use of mosquito nets.He also warned communities against using nets to set up nursery beds.“Incase any parish chief does contrary to the expected,he or she will be arrested,” RDC said.
