MAAIF launches E-voucher training in Budaka District under Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project(UCSATP)
The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) has launched a 02 days training on the E-voucher Management System in Budaka District as part of the nationwide rollout of the digital platform under the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP).The 02 days hands-on training, held at Budaka District Headquarters between March 5 and March 6, 2026, brought together Agricultural Extension staff, CDOs, and farmer group leaders who will play a vital role in implementing the system.While making their presentations, Officials from M-cash Uganda Limited, who are accredited service providers contracted by government to deploy and manage the system across participating districts, informed members that the E-voucher platform is designed to improve access to agricultural inputs by allowing registered farmer groups to directly requisition project supported services through a transparent and accountable digital process.They further explained that the digital platform will enhance transparency, efficiency and accountability in the distribution of agricultural inputs while strengthening monitoring, traceability and financial control.Speaking to Asuman Makuma Khawanga, the Acting District Production Officer who doubles as the UCSATP focal person, he emphasized that the training would enable the Extension staff, CDOs and farmer leaders to know how to requisition agricultural inputs using the E-Voucher system.“This training was intended to equip the teams with practical skills to effectively manage the new system,” Khawanga said.Khawanga added that the E-voucher system is part of government initiative to promote digitalization through climate-smart agriculture for increased yields among farmers.The participants appreciated M-cash Uganda Limited for equipping them with the necessary skills on the E-voucher system and pledged to put it into proper implementation.Budaka is among the districts implementing UCSATP and has received capacity building training on E-voucher system henceforth ready to operationalize it for improved service delivery and timely access of agricultural inputs by farmers country wide.
